Cristina is the Community Empowerment Director for Univision TV and Radio in San Antonio. Her focus is building new and maintaining key relationships with community leaders, nonprofit organizations, political leaders, and the business community who help cultivate brand awareness and opportunities to help the community for local Univision stations. Cristina also co-hosted Univision’s newest community show focused on education, civic engagement, financial literacy, health and quality of life, which launched in October 2015. Contigo en la Comunidad airs on Saturday mornings at 10 AM.
Cristina was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois to Mr. Rodolfo & Maria Bazaldúa, Mexican Nationals; and was raised in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México until the age of 11. She was the first in her family to have graduated high school and college. She graduated from Edinburg High School in Edinburg, Texas. She earned her Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Administration / Leadership from the University of Texas San Antonio and her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Sociology from Our Lady of the Lake University.
Cristina is a graduate of Leadership San Antonio Class 40 and continues to be an active leader in the community serving on numerous boards including the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women, the Hispanic Chamber’s Latina Leadership Institute (Steering Committee), the City of SA Tricentennial Board of Directors, and San Antonio for Growth on the East Side (SAGE).
