Steve A. Duran Sr., a San Antonio native, has worked at Alamo Colleges for over 16 years where he has dedicated 90 percent of his time to workforce development. His recent activities include being President of a LULAC council, the largest and oldest Hispanic organization in the United States. LULAC advances the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of Hispanic Americans through community-based programs. This year, Steve was crowned the 2017 Piñatas in the Barrio King. He is a Board Member for both the San Antonio Literary Council and the San Antonio Public Facilities Corporation. He also spends his time as Chairman of the Board of MAUC school district.

As President of the La Prensa Foundation, he has been a part in the awarding of over $2,400,000 in scholarships for students in the San Antonio area. For many years Steve has donated over $5,000 to needy families for Christmas and shared his time and creativity with being the local artist that created the Fiesta poster piñatas in the barrio.
