A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Lisa Cunningham Ginn began her teaching career in 1998, after studying education and business at the University of Texas at Austin & The University of Texas at San Antonio. In addition to her years as an early childhood educator, curriculum developer, and consultant, Lisa taught parenting classes to homeless and transient mothers at San Antonio area shelters. In 2012, Lisa left teaching after accepting a Business Development position with Centurion Industries. Then, in March of 2016, Lisa found her true calling and moved into her current role as the Executive Director of the Bexar County Family Justice Center. She is passionate about assisting victims of domestic violence, stories of survival inspire Lisa and her team every day, and remembering the countless lives that have already been lost fuels their mutual desire to eradicate domestic violence forever.
The Family Justice Center was established in an effort to make leaving abusive situations much easier for a victim. Since opening in August 2005, the Bexar County Family Justice Center (BCFJC) has served over 40,000 families in our community who are struggling with domestic violence. As a collaborative agency comprised of over 40 on and off-site partners, the BCFJC provides legal and social services under one roof to assist any victim regardless of age, gender, socioeconomic background, ethnicity or sexual orientation…all at no cost. The services include protective orders, law enforcement, counseling, childcare, chaplaincy, child protective services, crisis intervention, child therapy, sustainability services, professional job skills, financial literacy.
